The Downtown Wallaceburg BIA is hosting a volunteer based downtown clean up on Wednesday, May 14th, We would love for you to join us in helping to keep the downtown clean and beautiful! The event takes place at Cecile Bechard Civic Square Park (the one we fondly refer to as “the fountain park”) at the same location as Whimsies Paddle Rental. We will be meeting up between 9:45-11:45 and sweeping the downtown clean of garbage left behind from the winter. It’s time for some spring cleaning! After the hard work is done all the volunteers are welcome to head over to 939 Dufferin Avenue for a BBQ lunch.
We are partnered with Community Living Wallaceburg for the event. They will be joining us downtown to help make everything sparkle and they are the gracious host of the BBQ! Big thanks to Community Living Wallaceburg for jumping in and helping out. It is also important to note that May is Community Living Month. If you head downtown in May you will see a neat and tidy space and the Community Living Banners hung proudly on the lamp posts. Check out their social media to see what other great things they have going on this month!
We will also be joined by some of our Wallaceburg & District Secondary School students. We are always thankful to have the horticulture class at WDSS help out downtown. They join us for cleaning out our planters, planting new and beautiful flowers, and clean-ups like this one. Another big thank you to- our youth at WDSS!
The event is also sponsored by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent who have provided us with all our supplies for the event and send a staff member to haul away everything we have collected. This is part of the Chatham-Kent Clean Up initiative that began last month for Earth Day. Thank you to the Municipality of Chatham-Kent for helping keep our downtown core looking great!
