SUMMER JOB POSTING 

The Downtown Wallaceburg BIA has an opening for a summer Kayak Rental Shop Attendant for the summer at Whimsies Paddle Rental. This rental is a non-profit that aims to connect our customers to our history, businesses, environment, and culture. Mandatory Kayak Safety Training will be provided.

Job Description 

This summer position works closely with our Coordinator and other summer employees to operate and maintain the kayak rental from our location in Downtown Wallaceburg.  

Essential Functions 

Day to day kayak rental operations & sales.

Setting up kayaks for rental customers.

Checking in and payment processing for rental customers.

Safety briefings and launching rental customers. 

Providing information about our experiential programs and making reservations for lessons and tours. 

Assisting with social media and website content.

Ensuring the facility is in excellent condition.

Cleaning, maintaining and repairing the rental fleet of kayaks and equipment.  

Assisting with the gardening and maintenance needs in Civic Park and downtown.

 

Work environment/hours of work 

This position works both indoors, and outdoors in the sun.

This position works weekday, weekend hours and holidays. 

 

Required Education, Skills, Certification etc. 

Motivated, outgoing, high energy, and strong people skills.

Ability to work as part of a team. 

Excellent customer service and in person communication skills.

Experience with a POS system and payment processing. 

Interest in kayaking and the outdoor industry, and passion for the outdoors.

Paddle Canada Basic Skills certification an asset (Certification will be provided if needed). 

Self-motivated and detail oriented. 

A high level of organizational and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work outside being physically active. 

Able to lift and carry approximately up to 50 lbs in each hand, many times each day.
