The Downtown Wallaceburg BIA is seeking a new Promotions Manager.

A passionate group of volunteers, the Downtown Wallaceburg BIA is a non-profit, self-help organization funded by property owners and businesses in downtown Wallaceburg. Through investment, volunteering, and advocacy we support our local businesses and the development of our downtown as a location to visit, work, and live.

As the Promotions Manager of our BIA, you will work closely with our downtown businesses and community partners to push initiatives forward for the benefit of the community and local business owners. We are excited to embrace our history while creating an updated and bustling downtown. We are looking for a dedicated, and enthusiastic community connector with whom we can entrust the future of our community.

This is a permanent part-time position for 25 hours a week, possibly leading to full-time and working closely with the BIA General Manager.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Managing communications by email, phone, and social media.
  • Executing website updates, and creating and posting blog content. 
  • Planning and executing promotions and advertisements featuring downtown Wallaceburg.
  • Coordinating and executing special events in downtown Wallaceburg.
  • Managing Whimsies operations including hiring, training, and managing employees.
  • Working on marketing and promotions for Whimsies
  • Attending some committee meetings and managing meeting minutes. 
  • Working on a variety of projects with community partners and committees.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with member businesses and community partners.
  • Assisting with day to day operations, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in office administration and bookkeeping is an asset.
  • Experience with social media, marketing, and design (in Canva or similar)
  • Excellent customer service and in person communication skills
  • Proven problem solving skills
  • Highly effective verbal communication skills
  • Kayaking experience or training is an asset. Level 1 training will be provided.

This position works outdoors and indoors. Schedule is flexible, and this position works weekday, evening, and weekend hours for events.
